The topics of our discussion were; our spring dance that we want to put together, fund raising ideas, and cinco de mayo.
We had decided to have the spring dance in March, but it turns out that we can't. Now we have to pick two days in April (April 3rd or the 10th). Because there were not that many people who showed up today, we didn't come to a final conclusion. We wanted to pick a day that everyone could agree upon, so check out what will be going on with your clusters at that time.
Fund raising ideas! Think of some! Other than the usual bake sale stuff (which you all need to sign up for to let us know what you plan on bringing), suggestions of a movie night, car washes, and performances at the Latino Cultural Center were made.
- At the movie night, we were thinking of selling popcorn, nachos, candy, drinks and other really good goodies. Maybe even pizza (Because selling tickets to see a copyrighted movie is ILLEGAL!) A space for the movie night is being pondered. The cafeteria and the black box are some ideas. But the fact that we are going to have food in the room becomes a problem in the black box. We are going to talk to some teachers and see if there is something we can do. As for the cafeteria, I'm sure there is some way that we can figure out a way to dim it down some in there and have an appropria setting for a movie.If you know a place in the school you believe it could be held in, without any problem, please let one of the officers know.
- Car washes can happen on a variety of good locations with a lot of people, like Chipotle and El Fenix, (Just a few to consider). If you got a few places in mind let us know.
- The performance at the Latino Cultural Center would go something along the lines with TOTA (Taste Of The Arts), but more latin based. Perhaps selling some tickets for performances from the dancers, theater students and the latin ensemble, and maybe even holding a Live-Draw auction from participating visual artists would be a good idea. This was not discussed too indepth, again to the fact that there weren't that many people, so we were just spit balling here. For this though, we need to decide fast because a lot of planning needs to go into it if we intend for it to run smoothly and successfully. This also means that there will be a big need for a bunch of commities to help organize it. So, yay, everyone can pitch in now and actually have something to do.
There were some questions made about registration, t-shirts, and sponsers that needed clearing, and will be done so A.S.A.P.
Cinco de mayo will be better this year! But that can only happen if other than the usual ideas were being given. You know what i mean, Latin ensemble and Lunasol performing and decorations. Don't get me wrong last year's was fun, but it only lasts so long before it gets old. So you have all got to get actively participating especially with some new ideas.
Speaking of activley participating, we are working to have some pretty awesome community service things for you. Don't forget that the Arboritum needs help every Saturday from 8 am to 4 pm. That's 8 hours right there in just one day.
